A Southern California native and self-proclaimed child of the "Gretzky Generation," Brett Fera got his first taste of frozen rubber at age 6 after former Kings owner Bruce McNall pulled off the deal of all deals - the one that brought The Great One to Los Angeles in the late 1980s.
After to moving to the desert to attend college in 2000, Fera spent the better part of four years as a member of the sports desk at the University of Arizona student newspaper, the Arizona Daily Wildcat. At the Wildcat, he spent three-plus seasons covering the UA Icecats, where he spent countless hours trying to crack the wonder that is the team's cult-like status in Tucson.
Following a move to the Phoenix area post-graduation in 2005, Fera was a full-time staffer first at the East Valley Tribune, and then the Ahwatukee Foothills News, where he now serves as sports editor.
