Sting signs Lazore, Tinning

Andrew Lazore was named Rookie of the Year for Major League Lacrosse after registering 18G-22A-40P with the St. Regis Indians of the Ontario Lacrosse Association this summer.

The Arizona Sting announced the signing of forwards Mark Tinning and Andrew Lazore to one-year contracts.  As per club policy, terms of each contract were not released.

"Mark and Andrew are both quality players with a lot of potential," said Sting coach-GM Bob Hamley. "They're both still in their early twenties, so their best lacrosse is definitely ahead of them and we're happy to have them on our roster for the upcoming season."

Last season, his first in the NLL, Lazore saw action in three games with the Sting, tallying 2G-3A-5P in addition to 7 loose balls.  The 6-foot-1, 180-pound forward was recently named Rookie of the Year for Major League Lacrosse after registering 18G-22A-40P with the St. Regis Indians of the Ontario Lacrosse Association this summer.  Lazore also scored twice and dished out a quartet of assists in four playoff games with St. Regis.

The 21-year-old native of Akwesasne, Mohawk Nation, was taken by Arizona in the sixth round (66th overall) of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft after a standout junior career with the Akwesasne Lightning.

The Sting selected Mark Tinning in the second round (13th overall) of the 2004 NLL Entry Draft.  In his only career NLL game, the 6-foot-1, 188-pound forward registered 2G-2A-4P against the Calgary Roughnecks on January 22, 2005.  This past summer, as a member of the OLA's Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks, Tinning tallied 19 points (11G-8A) in 18 games during the regular season.  In the playoffs, the 23-year-old scored three goals for eight points in four games for the Kodiaks.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL).  Its home games are played at the Glendale Arena and its season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
