Gistedt re-assigned to Las Vegas

GLENDALE -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-assigned goaltender Joel Gistedt to their ECHL affiliate, the Las Vegas Wranglers.

Gistedt, 22, has appeared in 10 games with Las Vegas this season, posting a record of 2-5-1 with a 4.64 goals against average (GAA) and a .862 save percentage (SV%).  Last season, the 6-foot-1, 188-pound netminder posted a record of 10-15-1 with a 4.15 GAA and a .873 SV% in 29 games with the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League (CHL). He also appeared in one game with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL), making his AHL debut on Nov. 8, 2008.

Prior to his professional career in North America, Gistedt played for Frolunda in Sweden, including stints in the Swedish Elite League.  The Uddevalla, Sweden native was named the top-ranked European goaltender by NHL Central Scouting in 2007 and was selected by the Coyotes in the second round (36th overall) of the 2007 Entry Draft.

The Coyotes, who are currently in the midst of the NHL’s Winter Olympic Break while many of the League’s players participate in the Olympics, will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2 when they host the St. Louis Blues at Jobing.com Arena.  For more information about the Coyotes or to purchase tickets to an upcoming home game, visit www.phoenixcoyotes.com or call 480-563-PUCK (7825).
