Bryzgalov sets franchise record with 34th win
GLENDALE -- Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov set a new franchise record for wins by a goaltender in a single season by earning his 34th victory of the 2009-10 season tonight as the Coyotes defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-0 at Jobing.com Arena.
The previous record for wins by a goaltender in a season in Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets franchise history was 33 games, shared by Sean Burke (2001-02), Bob Essensa (1992-93) and Brian Hayward (1984-85).
Bryzgalov's shutout versus Anaheim was his seventh of the season, tying him for the NHL lead.
Coyotes' players will not skate tomorrow but will be available to the media at Jobing.com Arena during the Coyotes Carnival from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Coyotes will resume their practice schedule on Monday at 11 a.m. at Jobing.com Arena. The next game is on Wednesday, Mar. 10 at 8 p.m. when the Coyotes host the Vancouver Canucks at Jobing.com Arena.
