Sisca signs with RoadRunners
The Phoenix RoadRunners have announced that free agent center Daniel Sisca has agreed to terms on a contract for the 2007-08 ECHL season.
Sisca, 24, comes to Phoenix after posting nine goals and 24 points in 32 games with HC Milan of the Italian Serie A in 2006-07.
The Woodbridge, Ontario, native and fourth-year professional returns to the ECHL where he was selected to the 2005-06 ECHL All-Rookie Team following a season in which he tallied a career-high 29 goals and 79 points in 71 games with the Florida Everblades.
Sisca's 79 points were good for seventh overall in the ECHL scoring race and second among ECHL rookies behind only Alaska's Alex Leavitt.
"Daniel Sisca is a dynamic player and one of the proven elite forwards in this league that can play in multiple situations during a game," said RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church. "Our fans are going to really enjoy watching his skill with the puck, and we're just thrilled to bring a player of his caliber on board at this point of the off-season."
Sisca enjoyed his breakout season with Florida two years after finishing fifth in the Ontario Hockey League scoring race with 34 goals and 100 points in just 67 games as a member of the Sarnia Sting in 2003-04. He turned pro the following year with Varese HC, also of the Italian Serie A, and since then has averaged nearly a point per game through his first three professional seasons with 55 goals, 83 assists, and 138 points in 139 career games.
Sisca is reunited with his former coach Brian O'Leary from Owen Sound of the OHL who was named the RoadRunners new assistant coach on August 21.
