RoadRunners acquire Maiser

The Phoenix RoadRunners have acquired the ECHL rights to forward Justin Maiser from the Dayton Bombers in exchange for the ECHL rights to forwards Justin Aikins and Chanse Fitzpatrick, and future considerations.

Maiser, 24, recorded career-highs with 19 goals and 47 points while appearing in all 72 regular season games with the Dayton Bombers in 2006-07.  The Edina, Minn., native and fourth-year professional tallied three goals and four assists in 22 post-season games for the American Conference Champions as the Bombers fell in five games to the 2007 Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads."I am very excited to add Justin to our team," said RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church.  "Justin has been a consistent contributor throughout his professional career and brings with him plenty of character, leadership, and most importantly, championship experience."

The trip to the Kelly Cup Finals was the second straight for Maiser who was a member of the 2006 Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces.  He collected 12 goals, 28 points, and a career-high 133 penalty minutes in 71 games with Alaska during the 2005-06 season, and appeared in 16 playoff contests as the Aces captured their first ever Kelly Cup.

Selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Maiser has tallied 51 goals, 57 assists, 108 points, and 322 penalty minutes in 211 career games, including nine with the former Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League.  A product of Boston University, Maiser was named the 2002 Beanpot Most Valuable Player after leading the Terriers to their 24th Beanpot Tournament Championship following a 5-3 victory over Northeastern University.

Aikins collected 27 goals and 57 points in 70 games in his lone season with the RoadRunners, while Fitzpatrick tallied nine goals, 20 points, and 108 penalty minutes in 36 contests following his acquisition from Columbia.
