RoadRunners acquire Bachand
The Phoenix RoadRunners have acquired rookie forward Nicolas Bachand from the Johnstown Chiefs in exchange for future considerations.
Bachand, 21, collected four goals and 10 points in 35 games with the Chiefs this season. The Laval, Quebec, native closed out a three-year career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last year with the St. John’s Fog Devils where he tallied 13 goals and 25 points, and registered 128 penalty minutes in 48 games.
Bachand was a member of the 2004-05 Rimouski Oceanic club led by current Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby that captured the 2005 QMJHL President’s Cup and advanced to the Memorial Cup Championship. He recorded 44 goals, 48 assists, 92 points, and 549 penalty minutes in 217 career junior games.
